(Naples, FL) December 2, 2013 - Elisabeth Novakovich, Assistant Director of the Emergency Department, NCH North Naples Hospital, was recently honored with the prestigious Patriot Award from an arm of the Department of Defense - the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). She was nominated by Jose Martinez-Marrero, NCH emergency department RN and Captain in the Air Force Reserve.
Presentation of this award was made by retired USAF Colonel Mary Perry, who serves as the Area Chair for the ESGR in Collier County. The Patriot Award is presented to an individual who has shown exceptional support of the National Guard and Reserve forces.
ESGR seeks to develop and promote a culture in which American employers support and value the military service of their employees.
"My supervisor always supports me in my military career,” says Jose Martinez-Marrero, emergency department RN. She has great patriotic values which allow her personnel to accomplish their military goals. She helped me with my training days, my school and now with my next great test: my deployment that is coming soon. She offered support for both me and my family. These are the small things that make your life easier before deployment. I thank God every day for being in the Air Force Reserve and to be working at NCH, a great healthcare system that supports its employees,” Martinez Marrero adds.
"I am humbled by this recognition. I have worked with Jose for almost two years," said Novakovich. "I have seen the sacrifices he has made while he has been in the military. It is my honor to work beside a nurse who shows such strength and dedication to our national defense. I want to personally say 'Thank You' to Captain Martinez-Marrero and to all of our service members for protecting our country."
