Back pain is an interruption to your daily routine. It can affect your ability to accomplish everyday tasks, and participate in favorite sports or social and leisure activities.
Our skilled therapists use evidenced based techniques. Many of our therapists have advance training in The McKenzie Method®
, Osteopathic techniques, muscle energy technique, strain-counter strain, MyoKinesthetic Sytem™
, and manual therapy.
Physical therapy may help reduce pain and improve function for the most common conditions treated below:
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Spinal Stenosis
- Disc problems-operative and non-operative
- Injury-Sprains or strains
- Lumbar Radiculopathy
- Spinal Cord Injury
Your therapists will customize a treatment plan to your individual needs. Exercises are given during therapy and a home exercise plan is also provided to avoid recurrence and prevent future re-injury.
Patient education plays an equally important role in physical therapy for back pain. Your physical therapist will also provide education on ergonomic strategies to help manage pain. Ergonomic strategies include how to minimize awkward postures that may cause pain or strain along with proper body mechanics when lifting, carrying, bending, twisting and sleeping. Education on adaptive strategies may also be provided.
If back pain is affecting your life, speak with your physician and ask if physical therapy may help. We look forward to being a resource for you. Contact the NCH Outpatient Rehab Department
