At NCH Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, we are proud to have a Certified Hand Therapist, (CHT), on staff. Kerri McBride, OTR/L, CHT has over 22 years in treating conditions of the wrist and hand. As a hand therapist, Kerri completed advanced coursework in treating conditions of the upper extremity and is required to complete continuing education on current and advanced treatment strategies to maintain her accreditation.
Many of our occupational therapists at NCH treat hand, wrist, and elbow conditions. Because of our systems excellence in patient care and cross-clinic communication you can choose a location that is convenient for you and still have access to our therapy resources.
A few of the diagnoses a hand therapist treats include:
- Arthritis of the hand and thumb
- Dupuytrens Disease
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Cubital Tunnel Syndrome (Ulnar Nerve)
- Tennis/Golfers Elbow
- DeQuervains Disease
- Muscles strains & sprains
- Neuromuscular Diseases including MS, Parkinsons, & Post-Stroke Rehabilitation
- Congenital conditions
Your treatment plan may include modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, paraffin, heat, ice, and splinting, (orthotics). Your therapist will provide education on your condition along with home exercises to help you achieve and maintain your goals, independence, and avoid future re-injury.
Patient and family education is also provided. While our therapists provide encouragement as you work toward your goals, commitment and active involvement of the patient and family also plays a key role in recovery. Because we understand the link between mobility and living a healthy lifestyle, our focus is to return you to the activities you enjoy.
We look forward to helping you with a successful recovery. Contact the NCH Outpatient Rehab Department
