The NCH Orthopaedic Center of Excellence's interdisciplinary team has developed a comprehensive program to guide each patient through their journey to regain freedom of motion.
Prior to surgery a comprehensive two-hour class is offered to each patient giving them the opportunity to meet the members of our interdisciplinary team. Each patient receives information and education about the surgery, post-operative care, pain management, exercises following surgery and rehabilitation program. A clinical nurse and members of the rehabilitation team are available to explain and answer questions on what to expect from surgery to discharge.
Discharge planning rounds occur on each patient daily, conducted by the indisciplinary team. Each patient care is evaluated individually for discharge planning.
The majority of the patients do go home with home care services, which includes physical therapy and nurse home visits.
