NCH North Naples Hospital Expands Cardiac Care with New Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Labs

NAPLES, Fla. – March 10, 2023 NCH North Naples Hospital is proud to announce the opening of its new cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology (EP) labs, providing residents on the north side of town with advanced cardiac care services closer to home.

The new labs will feature two operating suites and enable the hospital to perform a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angioplasty, stent placement and a myriad of EP procedures such as pacemaker implants, watchman and catheter ablations for patients with atrial fibrillation and other cardiac rhythm disorders. The lab is designed to be comfortable and calming for patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and staffed by highly trained cardiologists, nurses, and technicians.

The labs’ opening comes at a critical time as heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 655,000 Americans die from heart disease each year, and the condition accounts for one in every four deaths.

NCH North Naples Hospital’s new catheterization/EP labs are an important step forward in addressing this growing health concern. The labs will help ensure that patients in our fast-growing northern regions of our county receive prompt and effective care, improving their chances of recovery and reducing the risk of complications when minutes matter most.

“We are thrilled to expand our cardiac services from our Downtown Baker Campus to our NCH North Naples Hospital and provide patients in the region access to the latest technology and cardiac treatment,” said Dr. Robert J. Cubeddu, President of the Rooney Heart Institute at NCH. “We are determined to serve our entire community with exceptional cardiac care, and the new cath/EP labs will enable us to do just that.”

“Our mission at NCH continues to be to provide our patients with the highest quality of care available anywhere, right here in Naples,” said Paul Hiltz, NCH President and CEO. “The new catheterization/EP labs are just the latest example of how we are working to achieve that goal as we continue our quest to improve upon our current ranking as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation, to becoming one of the top 50 hospitals in America.”
