NCH's Growney Pulmonary Health Center Project Completed Expanded and Renovated Facility Funded Entirely By Gifts

More than 125 Naples-area residents, visitors and organizations made gifts to fully fund the expansion and renovation of the NCH Healthcare pulmonary rehabilitation facility on the North Naples Hospital campus. In recognition of a significant donation to the project, the facility has been named the NCH Growney Pulmonary Health Center in honor of James P. Growney.

With the support from our generous community, NCH successfully raised $1 million to expand and renovate the Growney Pulmonary Health Center.

COPD remains the third highest cause of death in the U.S. As chronic lung diseases have become more prevalent, the demand for pulmonary rehabilitation services has grown steadily over the years. The medically supervised program at the Growney Pulmonary Health Center is now able to provide safe care to a growing number of patients. The center’s physical expansion has made room for more patients to benefit from its vital services, creating new educational space, providing better equipment for strength training, aerobics and stretching, and encompassing a host of upgrades. As a result of the gifts, the floor space nearly doubled, and the center is now able to serve 30 to 40 patients each day and can accommodate up to 60 during peak season. The center was able to purchase important new technologies, including a hand-held tablet computer, allowing staff to monitor and measure patients’ oxygen levels while they are training.

Thank you to our donors for making a difference in the lives of those suffering with severe respiratory illness and lung disease by helping to provide the services and facilities needed to improve their quality of life.
