More than 350 supporters of NCH Healthcare System came together to celebrate the 61st Hospital Ball on Nov 9, raising $2.14 million for the planned Emergency Department modernization and renovation at the NCH Baker Hospital Downtown.
“We are so grateful to our donors and community supporters for their extraordinary generosity,” said Paul Hiltz, President & CEO of NCH. “Their contributions will help fund this vital project which will double the size of the Emergency Department with a second story expansion, upgrade equipment, and improve the quality of care to a dynamic and fast-growing population in Southwest Florida.”
Ball attendees included longtime donors, grateful patients, medical staff, and community partners and businesses. The event included the announcement and celebration of the 2019 Physician of the Year, Carlos Quintero, MD; COMPASS Award Recipients Maria Caceres, MD and Mario Trance, MD; and Nurses of the Year Rita Murray, RN, Veronica James, RN and Dorothea Angelis, RN.
“It’s always an honor to recognize our physicians, nurses and clinical staff for their amazing dedication and commitment to providing quality healthcare to our patients,” Hiltz said. “They truly are the heart of our patient-centered care.”
Honorary Chairs Bill and Penny Allen were given special appreciation for their many years of leadership and advocacy. This year’s Presenting Sponsors were TeamHealth, Waltbillig and Hood General Contractors.
“Every second counts in the Emergency Department, and thanks to events like the Hospital Ball and its thoughtful attendees, NCH can continue to provide access to cutting-edge technology and facilities that our specialized nurses, technicians and physicians require and every patient deserves,” Hiltz said.
