Straight TalkA weekly update from management on the issues that matter most. Apr 26, 2018 Live streaming our Town Hall Meeting was a first for NCH this past Tuesday. For decades the senior team rounded day and night trying to connect with as many colleagues as possible. Folks were typically busy caring for patients or doing other productive activities and could not break away to talk. We now have folks from around most of our locations participating on-line or in conference rooms on our major campuses. A digital recording can also be viewed at any convenient time. We also have an internal Facebook page that supplements with “Leadership Listens.” The state of NCH and our up-coming plans included: NCH Bonita Emergency Department, which is a 41,000 sq. ft. free standing ER with full radiology, physicians’ offices, surgery and endoscopy suites very similar to the extremely successful NCH Northeast that opened two years ago on Immokalee Road and Collier Boulevard Growth of our educational programs with the second class of 12 medical residents starting in July Fitch bond rating agency’s upgrade from “A+” to “AA-” that reflects our continued financial improvement Combined with NCH’s 5 star rating for quality, we have a lot to be proud of; but some pressure exists too, as we strive to continue our successful journey. Human resource concerns are always important and include: Paid time off (PTO) accrual structure that reduces categories and liberalizes benefits Change in tuition reimbursement starting after three months of employment versus one-year previously Expanded coverage of fees to include supplies, books, and equipment Reorganized and updated table of uniform colors Updated policy to allow for visible tattoos and for a small nose piercing Under discussion—perfect attendance bonus, scholarship/tuition program for colleagues’ children (with work commitment), community referral bonus, weekly pay Necessary increased security measures will be instituted next month: Hospitals will be locked down and exterior doors secured with visitors presenting a photo ID in exchange for a temporary ID badge Employee access to secured exterior doors using ID badge Required visible display of security-issued ID badge for everyone Communication is always a top priority both internally and externally as we help everyone live a longer, happier, and healthier life.
