Tesla (T) is the unit of measurement quantifying the strength of a magnetic field. Before the 3 Tesla Machine, the standard was 1.5 Tesla, meaning that the new scanner at NCH generates a magnetic field twice the strength of previous machines, and 10 to 15 times the strength of low field or open MRI scanners. The result: a magnetic field that produces exceptional anatomic detail. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the 3T MRI at NCH Imaging is an encyclopedia. The vastly improved clarity is particularly beneficial for pathological conditions involving the brain, spine, and musculoskeletal system.
